Planning a perfect Cambridge Christmas party

It’s that time of year when you might be thinking about booking your staff Cambridge Christmas party or perhaps it’s been booked in for months. Either way it’s not always easy planning the perfect Christmas celebration, so read on for some party planning tips.

Get organised – Set the date

Ideally, it’s best to start planning a Christmas party early on. Pick a date that your staff will be able to make and inform all colleagues through the staff news. Some organisations plan their party nights early to secure the best date.

It is also worth considering that Christmas parties don’t have to take place in the run up to Christmas. If you can’t get the date you want, you could think about booking something in the New Year.

Choose the Christmas party venue

There are a wealth of factors to consider when choosing a venue for a Christmas party in Cambridge. Here’s are a few questions to think about:

  • Does the venue size meet your needs?

  • What is the cost per head?

  • What dates and times are available?

  • How easy is the location to get too?

We are lucky in Cambridge to have a variety of Christmas party venues to choose from, including smaller hotels to larger colleges and conference venues.

Have you thought about transport around Cambridge and how people might make their way to and from the Christmas party venue? A central location can be handy if guests are making their own way to the party, or perhaps you might put on a bus for your staff.

Catering to every taste

Now here’s the fun part – looking at the menus! Do they suit everyone’s taste and are they within budget. You may have to cater for a variety of dietary requirements, so check to see what alternative options the venue can provide.

Have you set a theme?

Not everybody will want to have a themed Christmas party, however it’s something to consider and a great way to make it feel unique and special.  From fancy dress to Black Tie – it can be great fun! You could always set up a mini survey to see if this is something your guests would enjoy.

Christmas party table plan

Writing a table plan can be tricky, so what’s the secret?  It’s always worth taking time to get it right and get the balance between people socialising with their regular team, and bonding with new colleagues. Perhaps spread your teams out a bit and then give them a chance to mingle at the end of the party?

Relax and enjoy

Lastly don’t forget to enjoy yourself and relax. Go with the flow and don’t stress too much. All that hard work and planning will pay off, so grab a glass of Prosecco and enjoy!
